1936 - 2014 Obituary Condolences
MANCHESTER CENTER - Robert J. Eaton, Sr. 78, passed away Dec. 4, at Equinox Terrace in Manchester.
Robert was born in Bennington, on Sept. 9, 1936 the son of the late Harold and Alice (Boileau) Eaton and attended local schools. In Robert's earlier years he was a caddy at the Ekwanok Country Club and was often found helping the members with their golf game. One of his true passions was playing golf.
Robert served for the United States Navy.
He also worked as a carpenter for many years before going to work for Stanley Tools, Johnson Controls and RK Miles before retiring.
He enjoyed walking, especially through cemeteries reading epitaphs on monuments, gardening, hunting, playing cards especially cribbage, and being outdoors, Robert liked to exercise and listen to doo-wop music. He enjoyed camping and cherished times spent with his wife and family.
Robert is survived by the love of his life, Nancy Eaton of Manchester; children, Mark Eaton and Barbie of Manchester, Robert Eaton, Jr. of Manchester, Arthur (Chip) Mcauliffe and his wife, Tammy, of Ky., and Rebecca Eaton; brother, Harold Eaton of Woodstock, Vt.; sister, Pauline Nichols and her husband, Clarence, of Landgrove, Vt.; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Dawn Marie Eaton, who died in 1965; and his brother, Paul Eaton.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Graveside funeral services will be held in the spring in the family lot in Factory Point Cemetery. There are no visiting hours.
