Obituary Condolences

ARLINGTON -- The Liturgy of Christian Burial for Robert J. Manning was celebrated on Friday morning, April 11 at St. Margaret Mary’s Church.

Con-celebrating the mass were the Rev. George Dupuis, pastor, the Rev. Michael A. DeMasi and the Rev. Michael Reardon.

Music for the mass was provided by organist Donald McMahon, a special musical selection sung by soloist Donald McMahon included “The Lord’s Prayer,” and the congregation joined in singing “Amazing Grace,” “How Great Thou Art” and “Let there be Peace on Earth.”

The readings were offered by grandsons Peter Baran and Scott Masone. The eulogy was given by a son-in-law Michael Baran, the offertory gifts were presented to the altar by a grandson Marc Masone and Bernadette Forte. Serving as honorary bearers were Al McAlister, James Dillinger, Larry Malloy, James Milton, Hal Crane and James McAward. The bearers were Kenneth Smith, Larry Glass, Robert Long and Robert Covey.

A prayer service preceded the funeral mass at the Arlington Chapel of the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home. Burial took place in the Manning family lot in St. Columban’s Cemetery with Rev. Dupuis offering the committal prayers. A reception followed in the church hall with a luncheon provided by the Ladies’ Sodality.

On Thursday evening at the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home, the evening vigil service was held with the Rev. Dupuis presiding. Members of the Arlington Lions Club attended as a delegation to honor their longtime member.

Mr. Manning, 81, a resident of Green River Drive in West Arlington died April 8 at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation following a brief illness.
