Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Funeral services for Robert Kalinowski Sr. were held from Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Church on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2007, where the Mass of Resurrection was offered by the Rev. Vincent Coppola c.s.c. associate pastor. Prior to the Mass a prayer service was offered at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home by Mr. Kalinowski’s brother Charles Kalinowski.

As the family and friends entered the church for the Mass, Corporal Edward Hunter of the Vermont State Police played the bagpipes.

The organist was Donald McMahon and the soloist’s were Mildred Pierce and John Lipinski. Musical selections offered during the Mass were “On Eagles Wings,” “Be Not Afraid,” “Here I Am Lord” and “My Redeemer Lives,” which was played on guitar and sung by John Lipinski.

The Casket Pall was placed on Mr. Kalinowski’s casket by two daughters Joyce Pratt Dufresne, Terry Lipinski, a granddaughter Erin Goodwin, a daughter-in-law Loreen Kalinowski and two family friends Tom Wager and Joan Douglass. A wooden cross was then placed on the casket by a granddaughter Dallas Lipinski. The scriptural readings were offered by two granddaughters, Whitney Kalinowski and Sara Burnell. The Prayers of the Faithful were offered by a granddaughter Katie Burnell. The Offertory Gifts were presented by a daughter Karen Burnell, a granddaughter Julie Dickie, a daughter-in-law Bonnie Kalinowski and a sister-in-law Lorraine Kalinowski. A eulogy was offered by Mr. Kalinowski’s son, Robert Kalinowski Jr.

Serving as pall bearers were two sons, Robert Kalinowski Jr. and Edward Kalinowski; four grandsons, Robert Kalinowski III, Jonathan Burnell, Morgan Lipinski and Robert Turchin; a son-in-law Jay Burnell and a family friend VSP Lt. Steven Poirot.

Serving as Acolytes were Leonard Anzivino, Joseph Anton, Ted Hajos and Edward Molloy.

The burial took place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery with Father Coppola offering the committal prayers. As the family recessed from the cemetery, Corporal Hunter played “Amazing Grace” on the bagpipes. A reception followed the service at the Bennington Lodge of Elks.

Wednesday evening during the visitation, an honor guard was provided by the Vermont State Police of which Mr. Kalinowski’s son, Robert Kalinowski Jr. is a member. The Bennington Lodge of Elks conducted their services Wednesday evening. The visitation was largely attended by members of the Vermont State Police, the Bennington County Sheriffs Department, the Bennington Police Department and faculty and staff from throughout the Southwestern Vermont Supervisory Union.

Mr. Robert Kalinowski Sr., a resident of West Street, Bennington, died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2007, at his residence. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home in Bennington.
