LEOMINSTER, Mass. -- A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at St. Leo Church for Robert L. Plumb, 62, a 31-year employee of The Catholic Free Press, who died Monday at UMass Memorial Medical Center Memorial Campus in Worcester after a brief illness.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years Nancy (Harrington) Plumb; a daughter, Kathleen A. Burdett and her husband Russell D. Burdett of Leominster; a son, James R. Plumb and his wife Joyce L. Plumb of Leominster; a brother, William C. Plumb of Pittsfield; and three sisters, Sandra G. Plumb of West Brookfield, Susan L. Gore of Bradenton, Fla., and Sally A. Miller of Worcester, Vt. He is also survived by three grandchildren, all of Leominster.

Mr. Plumb was born in Bennington, Vt. on May 12, 1942, son of Charles and Doris Rooney Plumb. He lived in Leominster since 1963. He graduated from Bennington High School and had been a member of the Vermont National Guard. Mr. Plumb was the production manager at The Catholic Free Press. He was a trustee and past exalted ruler of the Leominster Lodge of Elks. An avid golfer, Mr. Plumb served on the board of directors at the Monoosnock Country Club.

A funeral service was held before the Mass at the Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home. Burial was in Sadawga Cemetery, Whitingham, Vt.
