HARTLAND -- Robert L. Rumrill, 84, died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2006, at his home in Hartland.

He was born June 15, 1922, in Hartland, son of Henry A. and Maud (Cushing) Rumrill.

He attended school in Hartland and graduated from Hartford High School in White River Junction in 1940. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He married Eloise Moore in Sharon on June 15, 1946.

Mr. Rumrill was employed at the Veterans Hospital in White River Junction as a switchboard assistant for 31 years before retiring 1977. He was employed part-time as a caretaker of the Hartland Village Cemetery. For several years he also worked at the Old Mill Cabinet Shop in Hartland for eight years.

He was a member of the Hartland American Legion Post 48 and the Hartland First Congregational Church, where he was involved with the church suppers for many years.

One brother, Charles Rumrill, predeceased him.

Surviving family members include his wife, of Hartland, one son, Christopher Rumrill, of Hartland, three daughters, Josephine Moore, of Jericho, Kathleen Rogers, of Los Cruces, N.M., Shirleen Rose, of Bennington, eight grandchildren, one great-grandson, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the First Congregational Church in Hartland. Rev. Allen Comstock will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in the Hartland Village Cemetery.

In liew of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Vermont and New Hampshire, 66 Benning Street, Lebanon, N.H., 03766.

The Knight Funeral Home in Windsor is in charge of arrangement.
