Robert G. Mooney 1922 - 2011 WINDSOR Robert G. Mooney, 89, of Windsor, died Friday, June 24, 2011. Bob was born Jan. 17, 1922, in Medford, Mass. He served his community as church council chairman, town zoning commission member, and state gaming commission appointee. He fought with distinction in Europe during World War II, earning the Silver Star, two Bronze Stars, and a Purple Heart for the wounds he suffered during the Roer River crossing. He also fought for civil rights and equal justice, volunteering to monitor polls in the South as part of the Voting Rights Act during the dangerous struggles of the 1960's. He was best known, however, for his unconditional love, acceptance of others, and the patience and kindness that epitomized his life. These are the gifts he passed on to his beloved spouses, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and to all those who had the good fortune to know him. "Poppy" will be especially missed by his wife, Alma; his children, Robert and Elizabeth, Paul, Diane and Sam, Steve and Sharon, Tom, Mark and Brenda, and Chris and Dawn; his grandchildren, Erin and Carlton, Brendan, Tori and Mike, Maura and Aubrey, Tess, Matt, Spencer, Daniel, Madeline, Jacob, Jessica, Colin, Emma, Lauren, Shea and Dylan; his great-grandchildren, Damik, Mia, Aysia, Ari, Ella, Robbie, Liam, Nathan, Hunter and Laila; his stepchildren, Kim and Greg, Chris and Joan; stepgrandchildren, Rebecca, James, Jason; and step-great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Aden, Kaylee, and Emily.
