NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- A liturgy of Christian burial for Robert Patrick Scanlon, 39, of 102 Cross St., Bennington, Vt., who died Oct. 10, 2005, was celebrated Thursday morning at 11 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, with the Rev. William F. Cyr, pastor of the North Adams Catholic Parish, as the celebrant.

The acolyte was Joan Vincent. The pall was unfolded and the crucifix was placed on the pall by Robert Paul Scanlon and Matthew John Scanlon, both sons, and Sean Scanlon, brother. The minister of the word was Mary Rowe, cousin. The offertory gift bearers were: Erica Scanlon, sister-in-law, and James Scanlon, brother. Words of love and reflections were delivered by Sean Scanlon, brother. The organist was Joshua Sprague and the soloist was Margaret Ciepiela. A large delegation of lawyers and associates from the law firm of Barr, Sternberg, Moss, Lawrence, Silver, Saltonstall & Scanlon in Bennington, Vt., and members of several other law firms formed a honor guard at the funeral home and at the church. Burial followed in the family plot in Southview Cemetery, North Adams.

Pallbearers were: Brian Kelly, uncle, David Luscier, Karl Waltermire, David Silver, Jeffrey Gallese, Alfred Gallese, Clayton Tatro, David Fenster and Robert Morgan. At the Funeral Home Wednesday evening members of the Bennington Elks Lodge and the North Adams Elks Lodge conducted a service.
