Robert Phillip Floeter, Jr. 1935 - 2008 ARLINGTON Robert Phillip Floeter, Jr., 73, of Arlington passed away at his home on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008. Born in East Lansing, Mich., on Nov. 13, 1935, he was the son of Frances Bumgarner and Robert P. Floeter, Sr. After graduating from Saginaw High School in 1953, he briefly attended the University of Michigan and then joined the Army. He was sent to the Army Language School in Monterey, Calif., where he became a Thai linguist and cryptologist. He was sent to Washington, D.C., and, after the Army, worked as a civilian in the NSA. In the 1960's, he worked as an actor/singer in Monterey and Los Angeles and, along with his partner, became "Caterer to the Stars" before moving to Vermont in 1985. He leaves his partner of 31 years, R. Drew Hill. Mr. Floeter and Mr. Hill were married in Nantucket on Jan. 30, 2005. He also leaves his sisters, Frances and Joseph Majeski, Alexis and Robert Petro, Alice and Gary LaPan, and Barbara Bauer, all of Michigan; several nieces and nephews and their children, along with many friends around the world. He was predeceased by two sisters, Anne Sparks and Judithe Yahrmarkt. FUNERAL NOTICE: A Celebration of Robert's life will be held at a future date.
