HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. -- Robert S. “Bob” Haswell, 90, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005, at the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington, Vt. Bob formerly lived on Hoosick Street in Hoosick Falls and was the husband of the late Helen (Ross) Haswell, who died in 1992.

Robert was born on July 28, 1914 in East Hoosick, son of the late Sherwood and Sarah (O’Dell) Haswell. He attended schools in Hoosick Falls and graduated from Troy High School. Bob also attended RPI in Troy for two years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1942 to 1945. In his earlier years, he worked at the Noble & Wood Co. in Hoosick Falls. He later worked at the Watervliet Arsenal until retiring. Bob was a longtime member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local No. 106, in Albany. Bob was a life member of the VFW in Hoosick Falls and he enjoyed bowling and camping.

Survivors include nephews Frank Kasavicha and his wife Nancy of Poestenkill and John Kasavicha and his wife Erma of North Hoosick. He is also survived by several other nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, Feb. 22, at 6 p.m. from the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main St., Hoosick Falls. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 p.m. until the start of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Vermont Veterans Home through the funeral home.
