Robert L. Shepard 1936-2010 BURLINGTON Robert L. Shepard, 74, a former longtime resident of Bennington, passed away unexpectedly on the evening of Friday, November 26, 2010 at Fletcher Allen Health Care. He was born on April 10, 1936 in Burlington the son of Vernon and Sara Blair Shepard. He was educated in the So. Burlington school system and later served honorably with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He and his wife, the former Ethel Maxham, were married in Bennington on October 4, 1986. Bob worked in construction for various contractors and at Green Mountain Furniture. He was a fan of the Patriots and the Red Sox. Bob is survived by his wife, Ethel Shepard of Burlington, three daughters; Vicki Shepard of Bennington, Robin Shepard Kirby of Milton and Debbie and her husband, Geoff Dufur of Port Charlotte, Fla., many grandchildren, his brother, Warren Shepard of Colchester; his sisters; Lila Fraccis of So. Burlington, Verna Martelle of Colchester and many nieces, nephew and cousins. Along with his parents, he was pre-deceased by his sisters; Bertha Centerbar, Hilda Sanderson, Rita Leno and Betty Brunelle; his brothers; Richard and Vincent Shepard; his granddaughter, Shannon Sweet and nephew, Walter "Hank" Leno. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Elmwood Meunier Funeral Chapel, 97 Elmwood Ave. Visitation will be for one hour before the services. Those wishing may send memorial contributions to be used at the family's discretion.
