Obituary Condolences

Robert H. Steller

1948-2010 OLD ORCHARD BEACH, ME Robert Howard Steller "Bob", 61, of Old Orchard Beach, Maine, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 28, 2010, at Southern Maine Medical Center following a brief illness.

Born April 14, 1948, in Jackson Heights, N.Y., son of Robert and Betty McLain Steller, Bob completed an apprenticeship with Reynolds Tool and Dye, Walloomsac, N.Y., after graduating from Hoosick Falls Central High School. Later, he and his family moved to Maine where he continued his career as a designer with Shape Inc. for many years.

He enjoyed fishing on the ocean with his boat and the adventures of traveling across the country with his wife, Terry, in their RV. Bob was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed being "Crew Chief" for his son's go-cart team. Bob loved bluegrass music and blessed his family by NOT pursuing his banjo lessons. Overall, Bob had a great sense of humor and creativity, and was a man whose actions spoke louder than his words.

He is predeceased by his second wife, Terese "Terry" McKean Steller; his first wife, P. Lynn VanDerKar Steller; a son, Howard Steller III; his father, Robert J. Steller, and infant sister, Donna Steller.

Bob leaves his loving and devoted son, Matthew C. Steller and his fiancée, Lynne Elwell, of Old Orchard Beach, Maine; his mother, Betty Steller of Bennington, Vt.; one sister, Nancy VanDerKar and her husband, Jack, of Hoosick Falls, N.Y.; three brothers, Stephen Steller and his wife, Simone, of N. Petersburg, N.Y., Fred Steller and his wife, Vicki, of N. Petersburg, Howard Steller and his wife, Jessica, of N. Hoosick, N.Y., and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews

MEMORIAL NOTICE: A Celebration of the Life of Bob Steller will be held at a later time at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bob may be made to the family to use at their discretion. Arrangements are by CATHEDRAL PINES FUNERAL HOME, 156 Saco Ave., Old Orchard Beach, ME 04064.
