Robert Stroffoleno 1917 - 2011 WEST ARLINGTON Robert "Bob" Henry Stroffoleno, 93, of River Road, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 1, 2011, at the home of his daughter, Jo Berry in Bennington. He was born in Bedford Hills, N.Y., on Oct. 10, 1917, the son of George and Hosanna Paro Stroffoleno and attended schools in Bedford Hills and Arlington. Bob was a member of the Army during World War II, where he served in General Patton's 3rd Army. He worked for the Town of Arlington Highway Department and as a mason for contractors John Moore and Ted Hoyt. Many examples of his stone and brick artistry can be seen throughout the area. He enjoyed hunting, trapping, fishing, gardening, and was a bee keeper for over 70 years. Bob was an avid reader. Bob taught the hunter safety course to young people offered through the Vermont Fish and Game Department. He was an exceptional story teller, especially history. He was a member of the Harned-Fowler VFW Post 6471 in Manchester, the Arlington American Legion Post 69 and the Red Mountain Chapter #63 Free and Accepted Masons. Bob is survived by his wife, the former Amy Edgerton of West Arlington, whom he married in Manchester on May 28, 1939; his children, Jo Berry and her husband, David, of Bennington, Beth Keasling of Fort Collins, Colo., and Fay Poulin and her husband, Tom, of Troutville, Va.; his sisters, Mary Miner of Manchester, Barbara Ericksen of West Arlington and Dorothy Manning of Punta Gorda, Fla.; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his son, Jon Robert Stroffoleno, who died in 1952; by his son-in-law, Doug Keasling; by his brothers, George, Vincent, Francis, James, William and Richard Stroffoleno and by his sisters, Lucille Stroffoleno and Anna Frost. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Bob will be Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at Noon at the Chapel on the Green in West Arlington. The Rev. Keith Mann will conduct the service. Interment with military honors will follow in the family lot in West Arlington Cemetery.
