MANCHESTER -- Robert William Jones, 81, of Manchester and San Antonio, Texas, died Dec. 3, 2006, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Memorial Hospital in Hanover, N.H.

He was born in Rutland, Jan. 15, 1925 the son of Robert J. and Eleanor (Williams) Jones.

Robert was an Air Force Veteran of World War II, serving in Africa, Italy, Philipines and Japan.

He was an Air Force physicians assistant for 20 years, retiring in 1964. In San Antonio, Texas, he was owner of a Medical Supply Co, before moving to Vermont in 1995.

He was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church in Rutland.

Surviving are his wife, Ramona R. (Lofgren) Jones, of Manchester, whom he married in October 1978; one son, David R. Jones, of San Antonio; two daughters, Deborah Abbott of San Antonio and Carolyn Jones-Hays of Washington, DC; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was pre-deceased by his first wife, Dorothy Hadde Jones; by a son Mark R. Jones; and by three brothers, Richard, Thomas and Donald Jones.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 9, at 1 p.m. at the Shepherd of the Hills Church in San Antonio, Texas. Burial will follow in Mission Park North Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.

Local arrangements are under the direction of Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland.

Memorial contributions may be made to Messiah Lutheran Church in Rutland or the Lutheran High School of San Antonio The Mission Park North Chapel Funeral Home in San Antonio is handling arrangements.
