Obituary Condolences

NORTH BENNINGTON -- Funeral services for Mrs. Roberta White Rich were held at the North Bennington Congregational Church on Saturday morning with her daughter, the Rev. Penny Rich Smith, pastor, officiating. Organist Phoebe Ann Lewis accompanied the congregation in singing three of Mrs. Rich’s favorite hymns “I Love To Tell the Story,” “In The Bulb There Is a Flower” and “Be Still My Soul.” During the eulogy, Pastor Penny touched upon many of her mothers endearing qualities including her devotion to the Congregational Church, her family, her great enthusiasm, infectious smile and her generous heart. In addition, she reflected upon Mrs. Rich’s adventures at Fenway Park and the enjoyment she found in the family’s back-yard pool. Her daughter Diane Rich Ladd “offered personal reflections and recited a poem entitled “Choice,” which related to her mother’s positive attitude throughout her life. Tributes were offered by nephew, Ted Thomas and Ron Nadeau. The congregation joined in the recitation of The Lord’s Prayer and the 23rd Psalm. Serving as bearers were grandson Tim Smith, nephew Ted Thomas, great-nephew Gary Thomas, George Olaru and Scott Maguire.
