Roger Farnum 1932-2011 BENNINGTON, VT Roger M. Farnum, age 78, a resident of Abbot Street in Bennington, died on Saturday morning, March 19 at his home following a brief illness. He was born in Bennington on June 8, 1932 and was the son of the late Robert K. and Abbie (Amadon) Farnum. He received his education in Bennington and is a 1951 graduate of Bennington High School. Roger is a veteran of the Army. He married the former Barbara Blake on September 7, 1957 in Bennington. Mrs. Farnum died in 1991. Roger had been employed at various companies around the area and was retired from Bennington Display where he had worked for several years. Roger was an avid sports fan, and followed several of the high school sports teams. He enjoyed walking, was often seen at various locations around town. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law Linda and James Gilman, Jr. of Rutland, Vt., his grandchildren; April Marie Gilman and Hank Williams Jones, both of Fair Haven, Vt. His brothers and sisters: Donald Farnum of Big Bear City, Calif., Robert Farnum of Niceville, Fla., Ray Farnun of Bennington, Frederick Farnum of Bennington, Shirley Barnhardt of Bennington, Mary Stemp of Bennington, Thomas Farnum of Irvine, Texas and Judy Moretti of Virginia. He leaves many nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews. He is predeceased by his sister Virginia. FUNERAL NOTICE: A Memorial services will be held on Wednesday morning, March 23, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home in Bennington. Interment will follow in the family lot in the Village Cemetery on Morgan Street in Bennington. Friends may call at the funeral Home on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
