Obituary Condolences

WEST HOOSICK, N.Y. -- Roger N. Moseley, 73, died suddenly Sunday, Nov. 16 of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. He was, born July 9, 1930 in Troy, to Clarence and Gertrude Moseley. He earned a B.S. degree from Cornell University of Agriculture in 1952, and operated Ramble Rock Farm, a 210-year-old family farm in West Hoosick, with his wife of nearly 50 years Anabel Murdoch Moseley.

Roger served his Lord in many positions in the American Baptist Churches, in West Hoosick (incl. treasurer and deacons chairman); as a delegate, trustee, moderator of the Capital Area Baptist Association; and as a member of the NYS/ABC Board of Managers.

He also served on the Hoosick Falls school centralization core committee, the Town of Hoosick Planning Board, and the West Hoosick volunteer fire company. He was active in numerous farm and milk related groups: Cooperative Extension, including director; Farm Bureau, including county president, and state and national legislative policy development; Agway; PCA Advisory board; Agrimark; PCB committee.

Roger’s parents’ Agway business was named Moseley Community Service; and that concept continued central in his life, as he served his local and wider “communities” by encouragement, repairs, snowplowing, letters to the editor, supporting mission projects. Some trips included three to Nicaragua with the Baptist Peace Fellowship, an agricultural missions trip to Russia, and work with Habitat for Humanity in Sumter, S.C.

Music was a major part of Roger’s life and he used his wonderful vocal gift by singing solos for churches, weddings, funerals and in his church choir. He sang many seasons with the Community Choral Society, the Bennington Chorus, and the Battenkill Chorale; blessed many people with encouraging visits and songs.

Roger’s wife Anabel died May 5, 2003. Survivors include his three daughters, Amy and husband Bruce Baertschi of Springfield, Laura and husband Michael Green of Moscow, Idaho, Katrina and husband Cort Neff of Kodiak, Ark.; son Bruce and wife Lisa Senecal Moseley of West Hoosick; three brothers, Donald and wife Dorothy of Silver Spring, Md., Charles and wife Gertrude of Lake Placid, Fla., Allan and wife Muriel of Frankfort; 17 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

His memorial service will be Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003 at noon at the Hoosick Falls Baptist Church on Main Street with a reception to follow. Calling hours will precede the service, from 10 a.m. to noon at the church.

The family suggests that memorial gifts to be sent to West Hoosick Baptist Church Wider Mission Budget (c/o Mrs. Sherman Herrington, 170 Wilson Hill Road, Hoosick Falls, NY 12090); or to the Battenkill Chorale (c/o Janet McGhee, 90 East Main St., Cambridge, NY 12816). We appreciate the assistance of the Robson-Reinfurt Funeral Home.
