Roger P. Bentley 1926 - 2008 Roger P. Bentley, 82, a native of Sandgate and a long time resident of Florida, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008 at the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington following a long illness. Born in Sandgate on Nov. 14, 1926, he was the son of the late Ross and Eva Munn Bentley. He received his eduction in the local schools. Roger was a World War II Navy veteran where he served in the Seabees. For many years he resided in the Bradenton, Florida area where he was employed in the maintenance department of the Bradenton school system. Prior to entering the Vermont Veterans Home Roger had resided at the Manes House in Bennington. He leaves his daughter, Mary Bentley of Deland, Florida; three granddaughters, Trinity Ecker, Chelsea and Shannon Sly, all of Deland; three step-children, Sandra Kinney and John Austin of Virginia and Wayne Austin of California; five brothers and sisters, Ross "Doug" Bentley of Arizona, Ruth Bentley of Connecticut, Glendon Bentley of Virginia, Marilyn Cymbalak of Wisconsin and Virginia Hazelton of North Bennington; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Roger was predeceased by thirteen brothers and sisters. FUNERAL NOTICE: Services will be held from Four Chaplains All Faiths Chapel at the Vermont Veterans Home on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008 at 11 a.m. Friends may call at the chapel on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will take place in the Vermont Veterans War Memorial Cemetery at the Vermont Veterans Home. Guest book condolences may be made at maharandsonfuneralhome.net
