Born in Morristown on Feb. 18, 1922, he was the son of Walter Scott Monteith and Elsie May True Monteith. Each weekday, he was a lively participant at Bennington Project Independence (BPI). For the past two years, Roland had resided at Crescent Manor Community Care Center.
Roland leaves many cousins in northern Vermont, whom he saw annually at the Monteith Family Reunion, and numerous friends, especially his guardians, Denise Sauer of Pownal and Anne Gatling of Bend, Ore., and a special friend, Shelley (Hight) Small of Athol, Mass.
