Obituary Condolences

READSBORO -- A celebration of the life of Roland R. “Butch” Johnson, was held on Thursday afternoon, Oct. 2, 2003, at the Readsboro Baptist Church with Pastor John Brigham officiating.

Several musical selections were played: The organist, Mrs. Evelyn Hanssen played the opening hymn, “What A Friend We Have In Jesus,” and the closing hymn, “I Am Weak, But Thou Art Strong.”

Pastor Brigham played the guitar and sang the spiritual hymn “Jesus” and the recorded music of “I Believe” and “Love Me” were also played.

Mr. Johnson’s brother-in-law, Richard Coleman, offered some remembrances and tributes. A time of Fellowship followed in the church hall. Earlier in the day, Mr. Johnson was buried in the family lot in Readsboro Cemetery.

Attending the calling hours, and conducting services on Wednesday evening at the Covey & Allen Funeral Home in Wilmington were members of Unity Lodge,#89, Free and Accepted Masons.

Roland R. “Butch” Johnson, 62, a resident of School Street in Readsboro, died on Sept. 29, 2003 at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, following a long illness.
