1930-2013 BENNINGTON Rolland Lewis Becker, 82, a resident of Willow Road, died Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at the Berkshire Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was born in Bennington on November 16, 1930. He was the son of the late Elbert and Caroline (Stratton) Becker. He received his education in Bennington. On July 4, 1953 Rolland married the former Barbara Mattison at Saint Peter's Episcopal Church in Bennington. Mrs. Becker died February 4, 2010. In earlier years, Rolland was employed at Coopers Machine and for 27 years was employed as a Lathe Operator at Bijur Lubricating Company from which he retired in 1993. Mr. Becker had a great love of the outdoors and enjoyed hunting. His family, and his dog Zeke were his main interests. Survivors include three sons, Kevin L. Becker of Bennington, Clifford R. Becker and his wife Susan of Hoosick Falls, New York and Craig M. Becker and his wife, Patti of Bennington; three grandchildren, Jason Becker, Marie Becker and Todd Becker; as well as two great-grandchildren, MacKenzie Becker and Evan Becker FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held from the Shaftsbury United Methodist Church on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at 11 a.m. with the Reverend Richard McSherry and Mr. Kenneth Coonradt, officiating. The burial will take place in the family lot in White Chapel Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Saturday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. If friends desire contributions in memory of of Rolland L. Becker may be made to the Southwestern Vermont Regional Cancer Center and/or the Dialysis Unit at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center through the Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201.
