Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Ronal P. Hall, 62, a resident of Monument Avenue, died Tuesday, July 6, 2004 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston following a brief illness.

Born in Troy, N.Y. Jan. 9, 1942, he was the son of the late Clarence F. and Ann (Stirling) Hall. He received his early education in Troy and received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Miami. Mr. Hall later received both his master’s and doctorate in industrial psychology from the University of Akron.

Mr. Hall served as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was stationed in both Vietnam and Germany and at the time of his discharge had obtained the rank of captain.

Mr. Hall married the former Patti Hockman in Bennington on Dec. 17, 1983.

He began his career as an instructor of statistics at the University of Akron and later as an instructor of psychology at Mount Union College in Alliance, Ohio. He also served on the faculty of Wayne College in Orrville, Ohio as assistant professor of psychology and co-coordinator of industrial training before working for the state of Ohio doing research and industrial training. From 1975 until 2004, Mr. Hall was employed by the Albany International Corp. as director of benefits, compensation and human resources. He retired Feb. 1, 2004. Mr. Hall was a former member of the planning commission for the town of Bennington and also served two terms on the Bennington Select Board. He was an avid golfer and was a longtime member of the Troy Country Club in Troy, N.Y.

His main interest was his family, especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Patti H. Hall of Bennington; three sons, John J. Hall of San Jose, Calif., Matthew R. Hall and Andrew S. Hall, both of Bennington; two grandsons, Maxwell D. Hall and Ethan R. Hall, both of San Jose; two brothers, Stirling G. Hall of Charlotte, N.C. and C.F. “Tom” Hall of Vero Beach, Fla.; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral will be held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Monday, July 12, 2004 at 12 p.m.

Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. when the family will be in attendance.
