Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Ronald Roy Bentley Sr., 55, of Norwalk, Conn., formerly of New Canaan, Conn., died in the Norwalk Hospital on March 7, 2006. Born in Bennington on Oct. 30, 1950, he was the son of the late Roy A. and Christine A. Tarbell Bentley.

Mr. Bentley was a retired highway maintenance worker for the Connecticut Department of Transportation, and formerly worked with the New Canaan Department of Parks and Recreation. He was a member of the Eagles Club No. 588 of Norwalk, and the Old Timers Softball League. He was also a member of the American Pool Association and the Norwalk British Dart & Pool League. He was an avid fisherman and a NASCAR fan.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam War.

Mr. Bentley is survived by his two sons, Ronald R. Bentley Jr. of Shelton and Charlie J. Bentley of New Canaan; his daughter, Meghan Bentley of New Canaan; a brother, Alton M. Bentley of Sanford, N.C.; and two sisters, Elizabeth Tewksbury of Okeechobee, Fla., and Shirley L. Betit of Troy, N.Y. He was predeceased by sister, Myrtie M. Bentley of Manchester. In addition, he is survived by his former wife of 25 years, Colleen Bentley, and his companion, Robin King, along with several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Friday, March 10, 2006, from 4 to 8 p.m., with a funeral service at 7 p.m. at the Raymond Community Funeral Home, 5 East Wall St., Norwalk, CT. Interment will be in Vermont at a later date.
