Ronald J. Chmielewski "Rockin-Ron" 1941-2011 POWNAL Ronald J.Rockin-Ron Chmielewski, 70, a resident of Skyboro Road in Pownal died Monday September 19, 2011 at his residence. He was born in Meriden, Conn., August 1, 1941. He was the son of the late Thaddeus and Josephine (Citak) Chmielewski. Ron received his education in Naugatuck, Conn., where he attended Naugatuck High School From 1958 to 1962 Ron served in the United States Navy. He married the former Carol Soboleski on August 1, 1964 at Saint Francis Catholic Church in Naugatuck. In earlier years Ron worked for the United States Post Office in Southbury, Conn. He later worked at Sloan's Sporting Goods and most recently owned and operated Rockin' Ron's Hot Dog Stand in Pownal. He was a member of the American Legion Post 90 in Pownal, Vt. He was also a life member of the N.R.A and a member of the Gold Prospectors of America. Ron was a self taught certified gun smith. He loved motorcycles, especially his Harley which he was in the process of restoring. Survivors include his wife Carol Chmielewski of Pownal. Four children; Katherine Liscinsky of Newtown, Conn.; Ronald S. Chmielewski of Elmira, N.Y.; Patricia Randall of Pownal, Vt., and Christopher Chmielewski of Menands, NY as well as seven grandchildren. He also leaves three brothers; Thaddeus Chmielewski of Northford, Conn.; Steven Chmielewski of Wallingford, Conn.; John Chmielewski of Waterbury, Conn., and several nieces, nephews and cousins. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral mass will be held from Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Church in Bennington on Saturday October 1, 2011 at 11 a.m. If friends desire, contributions in memory of Ronald J. Chmielewski may be made to either the VT Chapter of the or the Disabled American Veterans through the office of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home 628 Main St. Bennington, VT 05201
