Rosa L. Campney


Rosa L. Campney, age 85, of Manchester Center passed away at the Center for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington on Jan. 2, 2013, surrounded by her loved ones.

Rosa was born on Feb. 9, 1927, in West Pawlet to Lorenzo and Natalie Woodard Jackson. She attended West Pawlet Grade School and Granville High School. She worked for many years at JK Adams and Manchester Wood as a furniture assembler. Rosa was an avid reader and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles as well as jigsaw puzzles in her free time.

On October 31st, 1947, she married her sweetheart, Burton H. Campney Sr., in Bennington.

She is survived by her four children, Burton H. Campney Jr. and wife Lyn, daughter Mary Lou Bowen, son Terry L Campney and Barbara May, daughter Christie Campney- Bristol and husband Scott; two sisters, Doris Goodspeed and Katherine McFarland; eight grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Burton, 15 brothers and sisters, and son-in-law, Carroll "Bint" Bowen.

MEMORIAL NOTICE: No calling hours or funeral services for Mrs. Campney will be held.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the: Christian Appalachian Project, Attn: Honors and Memorials- Rosa Campney, PO Box 55911, Lexington, Kentucky 40555-5911.

Rosa always wanted to help the children and families of Appalachia.

The family would like to express their deepest appreciation for the excellent care and compassion shown to Rosa throughout her illness by the staff at the Center for Living & Rehabilitation.
