ARLINGTON -- Rosalie Wade, 77, formerly of Old West Road and a lifelong resident of Arlington, died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2007, at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany, N.Y. Rosalie was born in Bennington on Nov. 30, 1929, the daughter of William E. and Ellen (Mann) Hayes. She received her education in Arlington schools, graduating from Arlington High School class of 1947. She went on to attend and graduate from St. Joseph’s College in Bennington. Rosalie worked as a waitress for many years. She married Paul Daniel Wade in Arlington on June 4, 1949, and together loved to travel cross country in their camper. Mr. Wade died on May 30, 1929.

Rosalie enjoyed crocheting and made all kinds of blankets and dolls. She was a member of several senior organizations including the Red Hatters, and the Happy Go Getters. She was also a member of the Sodality and the Catholic Daughters of St. Margaret Mary’s Catholic Church in Arlington, the American Legion Auxiliary Post 69, Arlington and cherished times spent with her family.

She is survived by her children, Sheila Hoyt (Frederick) of Arlington, William Wade of Bennington, Paula Shortle (Thomas) of Rutland, Brenda Nicholson (Louis) of Arlington, James Wade (Brenda) of Brandon, Anita Roy (Daniel) of Londonderry, N.H., Matthew Wade (Alisa) of Hopkinton, Mass., Mark Wade (Maria) of San Antonio, Texas and Donna Savage (Jeffrey) of Londonderry, N.H.; 23 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, her brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Irma Hayes and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandson Michael E. “MJ” Nicholson, her sister Ellen LaBatt and her nephew Thomas Hayes, Jr.

A mass of the resurrection will be celebrated Thursday morning Feb. 8, 2007, at 11a.m. at St. Margaret Mary’s Catholic Church in Arlington. Interment will follow in the family lot in St. Columban’s Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening February 7, 2007, from 5 to 8 p.m. If friends desire, memorial gifts in Rosalie’s memory may be made to the Council on Aging, in care of Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home P.O.
