BENNINGTON -- Rose M. Collins, 56, a resident of Walloomsac Apartments in Bennington, died Tuesday June 19, 2007, at the Albany Medical Center following a long illness.

She was born in Woodford, March 23, 1951. She was the daughter of the late Richard and Lucretia (Gravel) Smith. She received her education in Woodford.

She married Gerald Arthur Collins on Nov. 5, 1967. Mr. Collins died Sept. 4, 1989.

In earlier years Rose was employed at the BenMont Paper Co. in Bennington. Rose loved to play bingo and her family was her main interest.

Survivors include a son, Gerald A. Collins Jr. of Bennington; a daughter, Darlene Collins Grover and her husband, Bernard Grover Jr., of Bennington; a grandson Aisaha Grover of Bennington; her brothers and sisters, Emily Caron and her husband, Ronald, of Bennington, Margaret Washington of Bennington, Robert Smith and his wife, Barbara, of Bennington, Mary Lewis and her husband, John, of Brooksville, Fla., Linda Salmon of Tennessee, Michael Smith and his wife, Patty, of Bennington, Charles Smith and his wife Anna of Bennington and Francis Smith of Woodford. Many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was pre-deceased by two brothers Frederick and Joseph Smith.

The funeral will be held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home on Friday, June 21, 2007, at 4 p.m.

The burial will take place in the family lot in the South Shaftsbury Cemetery on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Friends may call at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. when the family will be in attendance.

If friends desire, contributions in memory of Rose M. Collins may be made to the family to help with their expenses through the office of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home 628 Main St. Bennington, VT 05201.
