ARLINGTON -- The Burial Office and Eucharistic Service for Mrs. Rose Flora Hoyt was offered on Wednesday morning, March 3, 2004 at St. James Episcopal Church in Arlington.

The Reverend Bradford Clark, rector, was the celebrant. Donald Brown served as crucifier and chalice bearer and music for the service was under the direction of Rebecca Sampson, organist. The Prayers of the People were led by Mrs. Hoyt’s granddaughter Theresa Hoyt Corey. Hymns for the service included the entrance hymn “Eternal Father,” “Lord Of All Hopefulness,” “The King Of Love My Shepherd Is,” the communion hymn “I Come With Joy To Meet My Lord” and the recessional hymn “O God Our Help In Ages Past.” Following the service, a time of sharing memories and fellowship was held in the memorial lounge at the church. Entombment followed the service at Evergreen Cemetery in Arlington with interment to take place in the Hoyt family lot at the West Arlington Cemetery at a later date. Serving as pallbearers were Mrs. Hoyt’s grandsons Wayne Hoyt, Kris Hoyt, Fred Hoyt, John Hoyt, Steve Hoyt and Mark Burke. An honorguard consisting of Arlington Fire Company members Jamie Paustian, Ron Cole, Bob Young and Doug Hyde served as honorary pallbearers. On Tuesday evening members of the Arlington Fire company gathered at the Arlington Chapel of the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home to pay their respects to the Hoyt family. Attending the service was a delegation representing the Arlington Memorial High School girls’ basketball team.

Mrs. Hoyt, a longtime resident of Arlington, died on Sunday, Feb. 29, 2004 at Crescent Manor Care Centers in Bennington at the age of 95. She was the wife of Cyril Hoyt Sr. who died in 1994.
