Rose Sponauer 1927 - 2008 POWNAL Rose Marie Sponauer, 81, wife of George Sponauer and mother of Annette Dixon, both of Barbers Pond Road, Pownal, died Wednesday, Nov. 12, at the Vermont Veterans Home following a long illness. Born in Omaha, Neb., April 28, 1927, daughter of Raymond and Jean Marie Sickler Heyse. She received her education in the Omaha Schools. Rose Marie and George were married at Selma Field, Monroe La., on Oct. 16, 1943. They had resided in the Tampa, Fla., area for many years prior to moving to Pownal in 2006 to reside with their daughter and son-in-law. Rose Marie was a very artistic person who especially enjoyed painting and ceramics. She continued her love of art while a patient at the Veterans Home. She leaves her husband, George Sponauer of Pownal; a daughter and son-in-law, Annette and Dean Dixon of Pownal; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Paula Sponauer of Wallingford, Conn., and Eric and Sherry Sponauer of Tampa, Fla.; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Rose Marie was predeceased by a sister, Kathleen Ouellette. FUNERAL NOTICE: Services celebrating the life of Rose Marie Sponauer will be held from the Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008 at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Frederick McGee, pastor of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Shaftsbury officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday from noon until the time of the service. Private committal services will take place at the convenience of the family.
