1917-2010 MANCHESTER, VT Rosemary G. Brandli, 92, of the Equinox Terrace, formerly of East Arlington, The Village at Ormsby Hill and one of the original residents of the Equinox Village, passed away quietly in the early morning hours of Wednesday, March 31, 2010.

Born July 18, 1917, in Bayonne, N.J., daughter of Bernard and Agnes Gowen, she was the first of their five children.

She graduated from Holy Family Academy, Bayonne and the Katherine Gibbs School of Business, New York. She worked for the United States Government on Governors' Island, N.Y., during WWII in the Intelligence Department. She had also worked for City Service Corp., New York, the Law Firm of Clearwater, Martin and Associates, New York, as manager of Business Affairs, and later for the John D. Brandli Oil Brokerage Corporation, N.Y., retiring in 1978.

Upon her retirement she and her husband, Jack Brandli, relocated from Short Hills, N.J. to East Arlington, Vt. Rosemary was a devout Catholic belonging to St. Margaret Mary Parish in Arlington, and was an active member of the Sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

She was a member and past officer of the Arlington Garden Club, the Southern Vermont Art Center and the Hildene Society. She was also an avid world traveler.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, John D. Brandli; her sisters, Marjorie Ryan and Agnes Kelley, and her brother-in-law, Henry E. Brandli.

She leaves her brothers, Bernard J. Gowen and his wife, Corrine, of New York, N.Y., and Matthew J. Gowen and his wife, Bridget, of Manasquan, N.J.; several nephews and nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, cousins, and her sister-in-law, Clara Brandli.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A Funeral Mass will be offered on Tuesday, Apr. 6, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Christ Our Savior Parish/St. Margaret Mary's Church in Arlington. Rosemary's nephew, Reverend Daniel Gowen, will celebrate the mass. Friends may call at the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home, Arlington Chapel, Route 7A in Arlington on Tuesday, Apr. 6 from 9:30 10:30 a.m. when the family will be in attendance. A prayer service will precede the mass at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in memory of Rosemary be made to either the Multiple Sclerosis Society or the American Institute for Cancer Research c/o Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home, P.O. Box 528, Arlington, VT 05250.
