Ruby Della Norse 1930-2011 MANCHESTER CENTER, VT Ruby Della Norse, 80, a resident of Elm Street in Manchester Center, passed away peacefully Saturday August 13, 2011 at her home surrounded by her family. Ruby was born in Pawlet, Vt., on November 10, 1930 the daughter of Louis and Estella (Stone) Gleason and attended local schools. She worked as a waitress for many years in local restaurants and diners. She enjoyed watching and talking to her grandchildren, playing bingo, going to Saratoga, N.Y. with anyone who would take her and was an avid Boston Red Sox Baseball fan. Ruby was noted for all her handmade crafts and gave her grandchildren special hand made ornaments at Christmas. She loved going to BPI where she met lots of friends and was able to still do crafts. Ruby visited the residents at Equinox Terrace with her grandchildren when they were younger and at Easter made special Easter crafts and hand delivered them. Ruby was a member of the Harned-Fowler VFW Post 6471 Ladies Auxiliary, the Fraternal Order of Eagles Ladies Auxiliary in Manchester, the Grange and the First Baptist Church of Manchester. Ruby is survived by her children, Wayne Norse, Jr. of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., Ricky (Bart) Norse and his wife Nancy of Manchester, Rocky Norse of Manchester, Patti Cepela and her husband Dick of Dorset, Cindy Norse of Maggie Valley, N.C., and Lindy Mylott and her husband Joe of Manchester, her sisters, Audrey Gaiotti of Danby, Lois Squires of Manchester and May Reynolds of New Hampshire, fourteen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, her very special friend Tracy Miller of Jamaica, (not Jamaica, Vermont) and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne M. Norse, Sr. to whom she married January 17, 1948. Mr. Norse died March 6, 1994. She was also preceded in death by her brothers Ralph and Cleon Gleason. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Ruby will be held Wednesday August 17, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Manchester. Rev. Dr. Robert Carpenter will officiate. Interment will follow in the family lot in Factory Point Cemetery in Manchester. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Brewster Funeral Service 34 Park Place Manchester Center, Vermont when the family will be in attendance. Members of Harned-Fowler VFW Post 6471 Ladies Auxiliary and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Ladies Auxiliary are invited to arrive at the funeral home by 6:30pm.
