Rudolph "Rudy" Bondone 1923 - 2008 BENNINGTON Rudolph "Rudy" Bondone, 85, of Bard Road died peacefully on Sunday, June 8, 2008 at his residence. Born in Manhattan, N.Y., on May 19, 1923, son of Louis and Anna Buttagazzaro Bondone, he received his education in Manhattan and was a graduate of Seward Park High School. He later attended RCA Institute in Manhattan. An Army Air Corps veteran of World War I, Rudy served for four years. For 33 years, Rudy had been employed by the New York Telephone Company, now AT& T. Following his retirement in 1983, Rudy and Dorothy moved to Bennington. Rudy was one of the pioneers of the Life Line System through the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. Rudy installed Life Line Systems in family homes, did trouble shooting, and trained new volunteers. Rudy was a member of Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Church, where he served as an usher. He was also a very active member of the Bennington Lions Club, AARP, RSVP, the American Red Cross and the Bennington Club. Rudy enjoyed technical things, including computers, and doing electrical repairs. He married the former Dorothy Silvano at Saint Finbar's Catholic Church in Brooklyn, N.Y. Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Josanna Jean-Louis and her husband, Gus, of Pomona, N.Y.; a grandson, Guy Jean-Louis of Pomona, and a sister, Dorothy Grammar of Brooklyn, N.Y., and nieces, nephews and cousins. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at 9:30 a.m. with a prayer at the MAHAR and SON FUNERAL HOME, and then from Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Church at 10 a.m., where the Mass of Resurrection will be offered. Burial will take place in the family lot in Saint John's Cemetery in North Bennington. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. when the family will be in attendance. If friends desire, contributions in memory of Mr. Rudolph "Rudy" Bondone may be made to the Bennington Lions Club through the office of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St., Bennington, VT 05201.
