Russell E. Mack 1925-2010 BENNINGTON Mr. Russell E. Mack, 84, a resident of Homestead Mews in North Bennington died Friday, September 10, 2010 at the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington following a long illness. Born in Goodyear, Connecticut Nov. 21, 1925, he was the son of the late John and Jean (Parkes) Mack. Russ received his education in Plainfield, Conn. and was a graduate of Plainfield High School. A World War II veteran Mr. Mack served in the United States Navy from 1942 1947. He married the former Dorothy L. Collyer on January 18, 1947 in Mooseup, Conn. In 1956 Russell and Dorothy moved to Bennington, Vt. Mr. Mack owned and operated Remco from which he retired after 35 years in 1991. Russell was a member of the American Legion Post 13 and the VFW Post 1332 in Bennington. He was a former member of the Shriners and the Bennington Lodge of Elks # 567. Russell enjoyed woodworking projects for his daughters business, his fish aquariums and his pets. In earlier years he enjoyed hunting with his son. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Mack of North Bennington, a son, Russell Mack and his wife, Dawn of Bennington: a daughter, Catherine Mack of Bennington; three grandchildren, Kristin Mack, Allison Mack and Caitlin Mack, all of Bennington; a great granddaughter, Makenzie Livingston of Bennington; two brothers John Mack of Virginia and Robert Mack of Connecticut; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was pre-deceased by a brother, James Mack and a half sister, Dorothy Pilounik. FUNERAL NOTICE: Family services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. A celebration of Mr. Mack's life will be held at a time to be announced. If friends desire contributions in memory of Russell E.
