Obituary Condolences

MANCHESTER -- Russell P. Williams, 78, a resident of Manchester, formerly of Merrick, N.Y., died March 26, 2004 following a short illness at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington. He was born in Floral Park, N.Y. Jan. 3, 1926, the son of Percival and Catherine (Sandman) Williams.

Russell received his early education in Queens Village, N.Y. and went on to attend college at Middlebury while also serving in the U.S. Navy. He completed his education, graduating from Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pa.

Russell married Lucienne (Singer) Williams and together they raised a loving family in the town of Merrick, N.Y. Mr. Williams worked as a banker, mostly in the personnel department. He worked in Marine Midland Bank in New York; Meadowbrook Bank in West Hempstead, Long Island; Trust and Fidelity banks both in Garden City, N.Y. He retired and moved to Manchester in 1990.

Russell was very active with skiing, tennis and hiking until his recent illness. He loved reading and listening to classic jazz. He had a good sense of humor and will be deeply missed by all that knew him.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his son, Russell Jr. of Rochester, N.Y., and his daughter, Eden Bozza of Ossining, N.Y. He was also the dear father-in-law of Cathy and Robert.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 29 at 10 a.m. at Saint Paul’s in Manchester, followed by a graveside service of committal. Friends may call Sunday, March 28 from 3-5 p.m. at Brewster Funeral Home in Manchester.
