NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Ruth Ann (Fiddock) Follett, 69, of Church Street, died Sunday, June 13, 2004, at her home.

She was born in Montpelier, Vt., Feb. 27, 1935, daughter of the late Richard C. and Lily (Hardaker) Fiddock. She grew up in Berlin, Vt., and attended Montpelier elementary schools and was a graduate of Montpelier High School, class of 1953. She later attended Sheldon Academy in Burlington, Vt. She had been a resident of the area since 1961 and also resided in Bennington, Vt. for two years.

She had been a resident of North Adams since 1996. She was last employed at the Wal-Mart store in North Adams for six years and was on disability leave from there at the time of her death.

Mrs. Follett was an active member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, North Adams, and served as a eucharistic lay visitor. In 1993, she attended the University of the South and Education for Ministry. She was a founding member of Mary Mother of Jesus chapter of the Daughters of the King.

She was a member of the International Order of Saint Luke the Physician. She was an accomplished organist and pianist and a former hospice volunteer.

She is survived by her husband Roger C. Follett, whom she married on June 2, 1955; four sons, Michael and his wife Maureen of North Adams; Lawrence and his wife Deborah of Phoenix, Ariz.; Christopher and his wife Kellie of Scappoose, Ore.; and Frank and his wife Stephanie of Ashley Falls.; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, a nephew and many cousins.

A memorial service will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church at a date and time to be announced. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be at a later date in Berlin. The family requests the omission of flowers and suggests those who wish, make memorial donations in her memory to the VNA & Hospice of Northern Berkshire, Inc., through the Augé-San Soucie-Simmons Funeral Home, 46 North Church St., North Adams, MA 01247, which is in charge of arrangements.
