WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Ruth Louise (Fonda) Bump, 87, of 586 North Hoosac Road, Williamstown, died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2007, at her home. She was born in Yonkers, N.Y., on Feb. 25, 1919, a daughter of the late William Fonda and Ethel (Kastenbein) Fonda. She moved to Bennington, Vt., as a child and attended schools in Bennington, Vt., graduating from Bennington High School with the class of 1938. She was a homemaker and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

She was very active in the Williamstown Baptist Church where she was a member of the Baptist Women’s Fellowship Club. She also was a active member of the Williamstown Friendship Club at the Harper Center. She was a member of the Bennington Chapter of DAV Daughters of the American Revolution. She enjoyed crafts, sewing, antiques and gardening.

Her husband was Kenneth M. Bump, whom she married April 26, 1941. He died November 5, 1981. She is survived by three sons, Thomas Bump of Williamstown, Richard Bump of Cambridge, N.Y., and William Bump of Williamstown; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; one sister, Grace Smith of Bennington, Vt.

Funeral services for Ruth Louise (Fonda) Bump will take place Thursday, Feb. 8, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Williamstown, with the Rev. Peter Daniels, pastor officiating. Burial will take place in the family plot in Parklawn Cemetery, Bennington, Vt.

Memorial donations are suggested for the VNA & Hospice of Northern Berkshire or the First Baptist Church of Williamstown, through the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St. North Adams, Mass.
