1926-2012 EAST ARLINGTON Ruth Mary Cherbonneau, 86, a resident of East Arlington, Vt. died Thursday October 18, 2012 in Shaftsbury, VT as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.
She was born in Long Island City, New York June 21, 1926. Ruth was the daughter of the late John A. and Marion A. (Marsh) Testa. She received her education in Bronx, New York and later graduated from the Traphagen School of Fashion.
While living in New York, Ruth was employed by the Bank of New York. In 1946 she moved to Manchester, Vt. where she was employed at Factory Point Bank. She later moved to Arlington, Vt.
Ruth was an avid gardener and a member of the Arlington Garden Club. She was a communicant of Christ Our Savior Parish (Saint Paul's Catholic Church) in Manchester and Saint Margaret Mary's Catholic Church in Arlington. She was a life member of the Catholic Daughters of America. Ruth was a member of the Southern Vermont Art Center, Friends of Hildene and RSVP. She had a great sense of humor, had a passion for music and was a great seamstress.
Survivors include three daughters, Alison Mary Grant and her husband Howard of Rutland, Vt., Judy Ann Cherbonneau of Claremont, N.H. and Darcy Marie Swan and her husband Brad of Newport, New Hampshire; a son , Henry Neal Cherbonneau of Sabbatus, Maine; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by a brother Robert Testa and a sister Isabelle Gaudio.
A memorial mass to celebrate the life of Ruth Cherbonneau will be held at Christ Our Savior Parish (Saint Pauls) in Manchester on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at 11 a.m.
A reception will follow the mass in the church hall.
The burial will take place in the family lot in Dellwood Cemetery.
