Obituary Condolences

SHAFTSBURY -- Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth E. Myers were held from St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in North Bennington on Monday, Oct. 8, 2007, where the Mass of Resurrection was offered by the Rev. James Doherty, pastor.

Organist was Louise Gauthier and soloist was Mildred Pierce. Hymns offered during the funeral mass were “Amazing Grace,” “How Great Thou Art,” “Here I Am Lord,” and “Just A Closer Walk with Thee.”

The pall that draped Mrs. Myers casket during the funeral mass was placed by her six children, Nancy Sausville, Betty Ware, Edward Myers, Faye Baker, Kim Mayer and John Myers. A wooden cross was placed on the casket by three granddaughters, Michelle Metcalfe, Lauren Myers and Jody Mayer. The scriptural readings were given by grandsons Jamie Ware and Paul John Sausville. The offertory gifts were presented by granddaughters Laura Schriber, Susan Ramey and Sandra Parks. The eulogy was given by Nancy Sausville.

Bearers were six grandsons, Chris Strohmaier, Paul John Sausville, Andy Myers, Bill Parks, Jamie Ware and Geff Metcalfe. Representing St. John the Baptist Church Sodality as honorary pallbearers were Betty Becker, Eileen Flynn, Jill Levin, Lorna Cole, Mae Fox, Liz King, Leona Scott, Rosemary Lindsey, Ida Snow, Joyce Scarey, and Henrietta Billow. Serving as acolytes at the service were Merton Snow and Cynthia McAdoo.

A prayer service was held at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home prior to the funeral mass. Following the prayer, the song “Goodbye” was sung in Mrs. Myers memory.

Sunday afternoon the wake service was offered by Father Doherty at the funeral home.

Burial took place in the family lot in Center Shaftsbury Cemetery with Father Doherty offering the committal prayers.

Mrs. Myers, widow of Edward Myers, a resident of Cleveland Avenue, Shaftsbury, died Oct. 4, 2007, at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington.
