Ruth H. Goodrich 1921-2008 NORTH BENNNGTON Ruth H. Goodrich, 87, widow of Allen H. Goodrich, a resident of Mechanic Street, North Bennington, died Thursday, May 15, 2008 at Centers for Living and Rehabilitation following a brief illness. Born April 23, 1921 in Bennington, daughter of Herbert and Cecelia Leubner Dorion, she received her education in the Bennington schools and later graduated from the St. Luke's School of Nursing in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. Ruth and Allen were married April 18, 1947 at St. Francis de Sales Church in Bennington. Allen died Oct. 11, 1971. A registered nurse for over 35 years at Putnam Memorial Hospital, Ruth first worked as an anesthetist in the operating room and than in the emergency room for many years prior to her retirement. Ruth was an avid reader and especially enjoyed raising and caring for her many house plants. She leaves a daughter, Jay Brown of Sugar Land, Texas; a son and daughter-in-law, Allen Jr. and Deborah Goodrich of Conover, N.C.; a very close granddaughter, Ruth Goodrich of Claremont, N.H.; and six other grandchildren, Javery and Ryan Goodrich, Matthew Brown, Lizabeth Hoffman and her husband, Mark, Natalie Holder and her husband, Wayne, and Michelle Giannone and her husband, Phil; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ann McMahon of Albuquerque, N.M. and Jayne Whitney Daigneault of Las Cruces, N.M.; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Ruth was predeceased by a son-in-law, Stephen Brown and by two brothers, Herbert Dorion Jr. and Paul Dorion. FUNERAL NOTICE: A service celebrating the life of Ruth Goodrich will be held from St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in North Bennington on Monday, May 19, 2008 at 9 a.m. where the Mass of Resurrection will be offered. Burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Ruth Goodrich's memory may be made to either St. John the Baptist Catholic Church or the Bennington Rescue Squad through the office of the MAHAR & SON FUNERAL HOME, 628 Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201.
