Obituary Condolences

SHAFTSBURY -- Mrs. Ruth M. Browe, 92, widow of Lawrence P. “Bub” Browe, a resident of Tinkham Road, Shaftsbury, died Tuesday, March 23, 2004 at her residence following a long illness.

Born in Bennington Nov. 24, 1911 she was the daughter of the late Edward A. and Susie (Quackenbush) Martin. She received her education in the Bennington schools.

Mr. and Mrs. Browe were married in Hoosick Falls, N.Y. in 1935. Mr. Browe died January 19, 2003.

For many years Mrs. Browe was active with her husband in the operation of the family farm on Tinkham Road in Shaftsbury. Her home and family were her main interest and she also enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include six children and their spouses, Lawrence P. Browe Jr., Beverly Jean Coombs, William E. and JoAnn (Cross) Browe, Barbara and Alan Hoard, Beatrice and Donald Gallett, all of Shaftsbury and Margaret and Arnold Revett of North Bennington; 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; a sister, Gladys Gates of Bennington; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Browe was predeceased by a grandson, Michael C. Paulin; and by eight sisters and brothers, Nancy Hilliard, Mildred Watson, Susan Martin, George, Arnold, Richard, Edmond and Shirley Martin.

Graveside committal services will be held Friday, March 26, 2004 at 1 p.m. at Center Shaftsbury Cemetery with the Rev. David Jinno, pastor of the North Bennington Baptist Church, officiating. Following the service friends are invited to return to the home of Alan and Barbara Hoard on Old Depot Road in Shaftsbury for a time of sharing and remembrance.

There will be no calling hours.
