Ruth Marie Gratton 1936 - 2008 BENNINGTON Ruth Marie Gratton, age 72, a resident of Water Street in North Bennington, died on Wednesday morning, Nov. 5, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington. She was born in Bennington on Oct. 24, 1936 and was the daughter of Frank Hurley and Cora DeBelle Hurley Sanders. She received her education in Bennington Schools. Ruth married Robert Gratton, Sr. at St. John the Baptist Church in North Bennington on June 29, 1957. Mr. Gratton survives. Ruth enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, and was an avid Red Sox fan. She was very family oriented and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She leaves, besides her husband, include two sons and daughters-in-law; Robert Gratton, Jr., and his wife, Debbie, of North Bennington, Vt., and Michael Gratton, and his wife, Lori, of Pownal, Vt. Ruth has one daughter Sharon Gratton and her companion Pat McKee of Arlington, Vt. Ruth has two brothers and sisters-in-law; Frank and Dorothy Hurley of Bennington, and Jerrod and Pam Sanders of Bennington and five sisters and brothers-in-law; Kate and Ray Krawczky of Bennington, Eva and Harold Jones of Petersburgh, NY, Viola and George Burgess of Mt. Holly, Vt., Ruby and Tom Kinney of Bennington, Nancy and Danny Flanders of Bennington, and her sister Sally Pacher of Bennington. Ruth leaves several grandchildren and great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. FUNERAL NOTICE: A Mass of Resurrection will be held on Friday morning, at St. John the Baptist Church in North Bennington at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in the family lot in St. John's Cemetery in North Bennington. There are no calling hours scheduled. Memorial contributions may be made to the or St. Jude's Children's Hospital through the Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St. Bennington, VT 05201.
