LONDONDERRY -- Ruth S. Brindley, 88, a resident of Londonderry, died peacefully, Friday July 2, 2005,at her Equinox Terrace residence in Manchester.

She was born in Elizabeth, N.J. July 7, 1916, the daughter of Benjamin and Florence (Rowe) Spurry. She grew up and attended school in New Jersey.

She married Robert E. Brindley, May 30, 1936, and together they raised a family. The Brindley’s lived in Mountain Lakes and Ramsey, N.J. Ruth worked for more than 10 years in sales for the phone company. She left the phone company and focused on her family. She lived for many years in Clearwater, Fla., and summered in Vermont 20 years and full time for the last four years. Ruth lived an active life. She carried her zest for life into her daily rituals. In her free time Ruth enjoyed a good game of Bridge and traveling. She was an avid golfer and continued to play into her golden years. Ruth was a member of the Weston Woman’s Club and the Order of the Eastern Star. She had a great sense of humor. Her family and friends will miss her dearly.

She is survived by her son and his wife, Robert and Gayle Brindley of Londonderry; her daughters, Janet Christian, of Sarasota, Fla., and Barbara Morley, of Nokomis, Fla.; her sister, Mary Jane Linnewerth, of Keene, N.H.; also eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on July 23 at 3 p.m. at Brewster Funeral Home in Manchester. There are to be no calling hours.

Her cremated remains will be scattered to the land during a private family ceremony. Memorial gifts may be made in her memory to the Mountain Valley Health Clinic, c/o Brewster Funeral Service, P.O.
