BENNINGTON -- Mrs. Ruth Wilcox Mason Vincent, 83, a resident of Bradford Street, died Saturday morning, July 23, 2005, at the Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, Mass., following a brief illness.

Born at home in North Pownal on Jan. 29, 1922, she was one of three daughters born to Charles and Frankie (Rudd) Wilcox. Growing up in North Pownal she attended local schools.

Mrs. Vincent was first married to John L. Mason in January 1940. Mr. Mason died in August 1962. She later married John Vincent in June 1975. Mr. Vincent predeceased her in 1990. They had resided in Petersburgh, N.Y., for a short time before relocating to Bennington.

She was a homemaker most of her life, however, she had worked at the former Warren Wire in Pownal from 1954 until 1964. Mrs. Vincent was a longtime member of the North Pownal Congregational Church, the Red Mountain Chapter 41 Order of the Eastern Star and the Senior Bowling League. She had been a Gray Lady volunteer at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center working in the X-ray department, she enjoyed knitting and being with her family.

She leaves her son, Paul Mason, and wife, Joan, of North Pownal; a daughter, Ruth Lingner and husband Martin of North Pownal; two sisters, Mary Gardner and husband Irving of Bennington and Elizabeth “Betty” Wilcox, with whom she resided in Bennington; grandchildren, Angie Lingner, John Lingner and wife Laurie, Cindy Hollis and Paul James Mason; great-grandchildren, Jacob Jelly, Crystal Rawling, Lindsey Sweet, Shawn Hollis and Paul Charles Mason; a great-great-grandson, Dakota Sweet; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by two sisters, Grace Powell Stemp and Angie Wilcox, and a half brother, Frank Wilcox.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 27, at 2 p.m. at the North Pownal Congregational Church with the Rev. Gary Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in the Mason lot in Eastlawn Cemetery in Williamstown, Mass.

Friends are invited to call on the family at the church on Wednesday from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m.
