BENNINGTON -- S. Maureen McCutcheon, 72, wife of David A. McCutcheon, a former long-time resident of Bennington and more recently of Main Street, Hoosick Falls, N.Y., died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2008, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center following a long illness.

Born in Bennington May 3, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Robert A. and Audrey G. (Lynch) Barnes. She received her early education at the former St. Francis de Sales Academy and was a 1953 graduate of Bennington High School. Maureen later attended the Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing in Troy, N.Y.

Maureen and David were married in Shaftsbury in 1982. For many years, she was associated with her husband at David A. McCutcheon Accounting Services in Bennington.

Maureen enjoyed antiquing, collectibles, reading, knitting, cooking and home decorating.

Survivors include her husband, David A. McCutcheon of Hoosick Falls; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and William O’Brien of Pasadena, Md.; two grandchildren, Darcy and Kerry O’Brien of Pasadena, Md.; her mother-in-law, Clara McCutcheon of Bennington; a step-daughter, Emily McCutcheon and her husband Alex Goldberg of Knoxville, Tenn.; a step-grandson, Jacob Goldberg of Knoxville, Tenn.; a sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Butch Sparks of Hoosick Falls; a sister, Beverly Flynn of Bennington; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial services celebrating the life of Maureen McCutcheon will be held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008 at 4 p.m.

There will be no calling hours.
