Sally Roan BENNINGTON Sally Roan, age 89, died May 25, 2009, peacefully at her home in Bennington, Vt. Born in Poland, and coming to the United States at four years old, Sally went on to lead an exciting life with her husband, Herbert Roan. An interior designer, Sally worked in New York City and the surrounding area. In 1957, Sally and Herb moved to Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Ill., where Herb became a colleague of Buckminster Fuller in the Design Department. Sally was instrumental in helping the Fullers decorate their "geodesic dome" home. Sally and Herb traveled widely in the United States, Mexico and Europe. She loved to tell stories of their adventures. She leaves her daughters, Barbara Roan and Toni Roan; grandsons, Dustin Bullock and Andy Rancourt; sister, Evelyn Gray and her son's and daughter's; Toni's friend, Greg Madden; Barbara's husband, Michael Rancourt; and Sally's beloved cat, Maxy, who was her constant companion. We would like to thank: Rabbi Cohen, Rabbi Boettiger, Dr. Scattergood, Dr. Wingate and her staff, Hospice of Bennington: Kathy, Beth, Lorrie, Mary and the volunteers & the Bennington Rescue Squad. We want to express special thanks to her very precious caregiver, Kim Forest. A private memorial will be held.
