Obituary Condolences

Sallye Maria Matatt 1954-2012 HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. Sallye Maria Matatt, 57, passed peacefully on Thursday March 1, 2012 at 5:55 a.m. surrounded by her loving daughters after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on June 1, 1954 in Bennington, Vt., daughter of the late Donald Matatt Sr. and the late Claudia (Saunders) Mulvey. Sallye was raised in North Bennington, Vt., and attended local schools. She furthered her education at the Southwestern Vermont School of Nursing. She enjoyed years of nursing geriatric patients and the many friends gained while employed in that field. She was later employed in retail where she made many friends who she grew very fond of and considered family. Sallye was a member of the Cornerstone Fellowship Church. Her greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with her grandchildren and children. She loved each of them more than life itself and left many memories for them. She enjoyed the simple things in life- long conversations over coffee, the peace and serenity of the great outdoors, prayer, picnics, reading, watching movies, foot massages and shopping. She enjoyed visiting with her best friend, Mark Kramer. Survivors include three daughters, Tara (Tim) Martin, Jennifer Powers and Shannon (Ken) Wickenden. Seven grandchildren, Lexie, Haley, Isaac and Oliver Martin, Makayla Sonnet, Sam and Andy Wickenden, her sister Deborah (Whitey) Rock of Bennington, Vt. She is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews. Sallye is predeceased by her brother Donald Matatt and her sister Laurie Gates. The loving care Sallye received from her daughters, Jennifer and Tara was appreciated by her more than they could ever know. She was very thankful for the care she received from Dr. Michael Romac and was most surprised that he did home visits. She appreciated the care she received at The Cancer Center. Sallye and her family appreciate the kind caring gentleness provided by the Community Hospice of Rensselaer County. Sallye and her family appreciate the thoughts and prayers of Pastor Michael Benoit. FUNERAL NOTICE: At the request of Sallye, a Celebration of her Life will be held on Monday, March 5, 2012 at the Wickenden home located at 70 Abbott Street in Hoosick Falls. The presence of family and friends are welcomed for this Celebration of her Life between the hours 2 and 5 p.m. Prayer will be offered by Pastor Michael Benoit. Memorial contributions maybe made to the Karen McGovern Memorial Fund through the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls who are handling the arrangements.
