CAMBRIDGE. N.Y. -- Sam W. Mason, attorney, died suddenly at his home in Cambridge, N.Y. on Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2003.

Mr. Mason was born in Ohio on Nov. 18, 1925 and served in the U.S. Coast Guard in W.W. II. After the war he practiced law in Baltimore, Mo. until moving to Cambridge in 1980. Mr. Mason was a member of the Vermont Bar Association and the Vermont Trial Lawyers Association and had a law office in Bennington. In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Mason was an avid antiques devotee and was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Cambridge.

Mr. Mason is survived by his wife, Beverly Mason, of Cambridge, N.Y.; a son, Rev. Earl Mason, of Lutherville, Md.; a daughter, Linda Botch, of Parkville, Md.; and a brother, Donald Clyde Mason of Tallmadge, Ohio.

There will be no calling hours and interment will be private at the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the care of the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home in Bennington.
