Samuel H.C. Dalton 1925 - 2008 BENNINGTON Samuel H. C. Dalton, 83, a former resident of both Shaftsbury and Bennington, died March 7, 2008 in Leesburg, Fla. Born in Eastleigh, England, on Sept. 23, 1925, son of Fred and Margaret Woodruff Dalton, he received his education in England. He served with the RAF during World War II. He was employed at H. M. Tuttle Co. for several years until his retirement in 1991, when he and his wife, Madeline, moved to Florida. Sam was a longtime member of Mount Anthony Lodge 13, F. & A. M. in Bennington and was also a member of Cairo Shriners in Rutland. A licensed pilot, Sam also enjoyed traveling in his motor home and stamp collecting. He leaves his wife, the former Madeline Muckle, whom he married Aug. 30, 1968 in Bennington. Besides his wife, of Leesburg, he leaves two sisters, Enid Houran of Port Charlotte, Fla., and Betty LaCroix of Wilmington, N.C., and several nieces, nephews and cousins, both here and in England. Mr. Dalton was predeceased by three bothers, William, Alan and John Dalton. FUNERAL NOTICE: Private committal services will be held at the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
