HOPEDALE, Mass. -- Sarah Elizabeth (Bennett) Alcombright, 83, of Summit Street, Whitinsville, former longtime North Adams resident, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004, at the Continuing Care Center at Hopedale, where she was admitted Jan. 16, 2004.

She was born in Adams, MA., April 30, 1920, daughter of the late Russell and Sarah (Blanchard) Bennett. She attended Adams schools. She was last employed at the former Clark Biscuit Co., North Adams for several years. Earlier she was employed at the Sprague Electric Co., North Adams. She had resided in Whitinsville for the past three years.

She was a longtime resident of North Adams prior to her move there.

Her husband Raymond G. Alcombright, whom she married Aug. 26, 1938, died March 2, 1996. She is survived by two sons, Raymond Alcombright and his wife Patricia of Bennington, Vt., and Robert Alcombright and his wife Peggy of Mount Crawford, Va.; three daughters, Shirley Dolle and her husband Carl of Stamford, Vt., Brenda Cugini and her husband Theodore with whom she had made her home in Whitinsville, Mass., and Deborah Kelly of Cohoes, N.Y.; two sisters, Louise Moody of Saranac, N.Y., and Evelyn Maynard of Clarksburg; 22 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. Three brothers, Raymond Bennett, Russell Bennett and Henry Wright; two sisters, Millie Salvato and Mabel Charrow; and three grandchildren, Carl W. Dolle Jr., David J. Kelly and B.J. Cone are deceased.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2004, from the Augé-San Soucie-Simmons Funeral Home, North Adams.

A liturgy of Christian burial will be celebrated at 12 p.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday.
