Obituary Condolences

EAST DORSET -- Sarah E. Molloy, 67, a resident of East Dorset, died Saturday Aug. 13, 2005, at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington, following a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in South Dorset, July 9, 1937, and was the daughter of the late Edward and Gertrude (Finnigan) Molloy. She attended local schools and graduated from Burr and Burton Academy, class of 1955. Sally moved to New York City and was employed on Wall Street until 1963. She returned to Manchester and worked in the office of the Bennington/Rutland Supervisory Union until her retirement in 2002. After her retirement, she became active with the Vermont Reading Partners until she became ill.

In her free time, Sally enjoyed skiing, gardening, piano and knitting. Her family and friends will miss her good sense of humor.

She is survived by her brothers, Thomas Molloy of Manchester and Edward Molloy of Toronto, Canada; her sister, Patricia Molloy of Savannah, Ga., and Eileen Sharp of Silver Springs, Md.; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Dorothy and Martha; and her friend and companion, William “Bud” Mattison in 2000.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Sept. 10, 11 a.m. at Saint Jerome’s Church in East Dorset. Following the funeral her cremated remains will be committed to the earth in Saint Jerome’s Cemetery. The Rev. John Whalen, pastor of Saint Jerome’s, will officiate. Donations may be made in her memory to the Vermont Reading Partners c/o Brewster Funeral Service, P.O. Box 885, Manchester, VT 05255.
