Obituary Condolences

WEST ARLINGTON -- Graveside services for Shane “Pop” Rochelle and Matthew “Matt” Rochelle were held Wednesday, May 17, at the West Arlington Cemetery in West Arlington.

The Rev. Thomas Trescott of the Federated Church of East Arlington officiated. Matt’s urn was carried to the grave site by his sister Tammy Stell, and Shane’s urn was carried by his sister Wendy Croft.

In attendance were all who loved them both dearly, many family, friends and co-workers from the Vermont Agency of Transportation.

The poem “Footprints” and the Twenty-Third Psalm were read, which were Shane’s favorites. Loving words of remembrance were offered by grandson David and daughter Vicki. Music selections by Johnny Cash were played during the services, Shane having idolized him since his childhood.

The songs included “I’m Going To The Promised Land,” “See Rudy Fall,” “Unchained’’ and “Bridge Over Troubled Water.” At the end of the service, Shane’s brother and lifelong best friend Rick Merron gave a surprise, heartfelt, loving and humorous eulogy.

Funeral arrangements were under the care of Mahar & Son Funeral Home in Bennington.
